Artist Statement

"Movement and rhythm inspire my art practice; ballet is a reflection of my process. I think of basic techniques in dance and from these thoughts I create physical abstract forms with paper, yarn and wire, I produce objects based on and influenced by my body movement when engaged in my dancing. The physical objects produced are reflections from my mind. I enjoy experimenting with forms that reflect the often repetition process that dance is based upon. My art works are reflection from my own quiet space – I see my art making process, of tearing and weaving the papers and fabrics as a meditative process."

My work traces the pirouette movement (the act of spinning on one’s foot) in ballet, reflecting the physical space between form and position. While an exploration of the use of space reflects the application of concentration and balance, the relationship between time and movement is a sensation of a subjective conscious experience of a repetition form.

The work is a meditation process of consistent tearing weaving  movements. It is associated with my personality, disposition, motivation and expression. It is a physical sensation of feeling and a conscious subjective experience of emotion that interacting with the external influences and emotion expression.

To improve both mental and physical well being of exceptional through the studying of this repetition movement. I am communicated between body (internal) and space (external). The movement reflects personality, which contains a symbolic function and as such can be evidence of unconscious process and to experiment with new ways of being.
